About the Program
The major in accounting combines theory and practice to help prepare you to analyze and report on the economic activities of organizations. You’ll develop skills in managerial accounting, budgeting, accounting systems, internal controls, financial analysis, financial reporting, internal and external auditing, taxation, and international accounting.
The Bachelor of Science in Accounting requires the successful completion of 120 credits:
- 41 credits in general education requirements
- 36 credits in the major requirements (18 of these credits must be completed at UMGC)
- 43 credits in the electives and other degree requirements.
This major includes 39 credits of required business core coursework, which may be used to fulfill general education or elective requirements. Of these, 15 credits may be applied toward general education requirements, while the remaining credits will count toward electives.
