About the Program
A major in biophysics prepares you to explore new and emerging fields, from tissue engineering to wearable devices and nanotechnology. Today’s complex scientific challenges call for solutions rooted in physics and other related fields. The biophysics major prepares you for employment or post graduate study in fields like biophysics, medical physics and biomedical engineering.
The biophysics major at Towson University is designed for students who want to explore how physics is applied to biological systems. Gain real-world research experiences and benefit from a curriculum emphasizing diverse ideas.
All biophysics majors take a core set of physics courses, including a three-course sequence in fundamental classical physics and courses in computational methods, modern physics and laboratory techniques. The program provides you with a strong foundation in physics in addition to advanced coursework in chemistry and biology.
