About the Program
This major is designed to address the unique position of sport in the global economy. Employment opportunities for graduates include high school/youth sport, recreation management, health and fitness, intercollegiate athletics, professional sport, sport agency, facility management, event management, community relations, and retail marketing. As a result of trends in the industry, many graduates choose to continue their education through graduate studies in areas such as sport management, business, and law.
Through the required courses, students will broaden their knowledge of the business aspects of the sports industry and develop a greater understanding of the sociocultural role of sport in society. This interdisciplinary program combines required coursework in sport management with business courses offered through Towson University’s College of Business and Economics. Students must complete a minor in business administration with coursework in accounting, micro- and macro-economics, finance, marketing and management.
