About the Program
The Bachelor of Science in Interior Design (INTD) is a four year degree with a curriculum focusing on improving the quality of life of people and their communities through the design of healthy, safe, and environmentally sound interior spaces. The program of study prepares students to be qualified professional interior designers who have the passion, knowledge, and skills to identify and analyze problems through research and to develop creative solutions for issues and functions related to interior environments.
Mission:
The Interior Design B.S. program supports the mission of Morgan State University and the School of Architecture and Planning to:
- Educate students through an integrated interdisciplinary and progressive study of the theoretical and practical concepts, principles, and processes of interior design, building systems, and interior construction.
- Provide students with varied learning opportunities that build their abilities to effectively communicate design information and ideas, think critically, and engage with people and their communities.
- Cultivate a philosophy and instill values that are people-centered and environmentally responsible so students will graduate and practice professionally with high regard to ethics, diversity, and global awareness.
Program Overview
The Bachelor of Science in Interior Design program requires completion of a minimum of 120 credit hours. The required and elective coursework prepares students for pursuing It is the only program in the State of Maryland offering a 4-year degree in Interior Design that is located in the LEED Gold Certified and Award Winning Building, CBEIS

Requirements for INTD Degree
- Students must complete all University, General Education and Core requirements
- Students must earn a cumulative average of 2.0 or better.
- Students must earn a 2.0 or better in their major courses with no outstanding grades below “C” (which includes all required supporting courses).
- Students must earn the final thirty (30) credits of their degree at Morgan.
- Students must satisfactorily earn credits in the major and 120 credits total.
Requirements for the B.S. Degree in Interior Design
A minimum of 120 credit hours are required to graduate with a B.S. in Interior Design. These credit hours are distributed as follows:
