Earn a University of Maryland Mechanical Engineering degree from the FSU Campus
Enjoy Frostburg State University’s state-of-the-art lab facilities, small class sizes, and friendly atmosphere while earning a degree from the University of Maryland College Park, whose mechanical engineering program is ranked 14th in the nation by U.S. News and World Report (2023 Survey). The Mechanical Engineering Frostburg Collaborative program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org, under the General Criteria and the Program Criteria for Mechanical and Similarly Named Engineering Programs.
Note that you must spend at least one year as an FSU pre-engineering student before being eligible for admission into the University of Maryland to take upper-level engineering courses. Please plan your transfer accordingly to minimize your time to degree.

Admission criteria for University of Maryland Clark School of Engineering:
- minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on all college level coursework
- Completion of Calculus II and Physics I with a minimum grade of B or higher
- Completion of Chemistry for Engineers with a minimum grade of C or higher
- Only one of the above listed gateway courses may be repeated to earn the required grade, and that course may only be repeated once.
Students with more than 60 credits may still apply. Regardless of your credit level at transfer, this program is designed to be completed in a minimum of three full-time fall/spring semesters.
