About the Program

Dietetics is the science and art of applying the principles of food and nutrition to health. Dietetics is the science of how food and nutrition affect human health.

UMES offers small class sizes in order to provide extra personal attention for each student. Our educators have an extensive background in nutrition education, higher education, clinical experience and business management. 

We welcome traditional-aged students, as well as continuing studies students who may be transferring to earn a first degree or who are seeking a second degree.

University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s Didactic  Program in Dietetics (DPD) is accredited by the  Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition  and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition  and Dietetics (AND).
