About the Program
Four-year plan
You’ll build knowledge where it counts. The bachelor’s in sports science program follows a straightforward four-year plan consisting of courses in foundational topics as well as advanced and elective courses. You’ll take courses ranging from anatomy and physiology to nutrition to biomechanics to advanced strength training. Learn more about the exercise and sports science courses you’ll take.
Career preparation
We train you so that you can train others. The Frostburg State exercise and sports science major prepares you to take the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) certification exam to become a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS). Or, take the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) exam to become a certified exercise physiologist.
Choose your path
Up your game and strengthen your degree in exercise and sports science by pursuing a complementary minor in coaching. This 22-credit minor will have you learning from experienced coaches and working hands-on coaching Frostburg State athletes. Learn more about the coaching minor or explore our other minor offerings.

Major gains, in more ways than one. Through the exercise and sports science major curriculum, you’ll gain the skills you need to achieve a fulfilling career in the health and wellness fields. You’ll do that all while in a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and the Committee on Accreditation for the Exercise Sciences (CoAES).
