About the Program
Advisement for the major is available from the Public Health Program
The Bachelor of Science in public health prepares students to work with individuals, groups and families in the worksite, health behavior organizations, university-based health services, wellness centers and employee health behavior programs at the local, state or federal level. The program includes a General Education experience, a required major core curriculum of courses, a 450-hour internship experience and completion of an approved minor. The public health major provides students the opportunity to pursue careers in a wide variety of settings, including hospitals, health departments, pharmacies, grocery stores, private nursing homes, government agencies, voluntary health agencies, health maintenance organizations and worksites. Public health professionals carry out their mission through organized, interdisciplinary efforts that address the physical, mental and environmental health concerns of communities and populations at risk for disease and injury.
