About the Program

Launch your career in the ever-changing world of economics.
Prepare to become a critical analyst, practical problem solver, effective communicator and user of the needed technology in the important world of economics.

As the economy fluctuates, the entire world pays attention. With a background in economics, you can plan for and even influence the economy from behind the scenes. You could soon be employed developing new and more effective government policies, forecasting the future economy for an industry or helping a variety of clients through a private consulting agency, all extremely important work for keeping the world as we know it today functioning smoothly.

You'll get personalized attention through small classes taught by faculty who emphasize active and intensive learning experiences, along with practical theory-based applications, leading to a fulfilling career in the always-important field of economics. You may choose to pursue a specialized concentration or business economics (private-sector employment or pursuing your MBA), public policy economics (government employment or policy-oriented organizations employment) or quantitative economics (for those who intend to seek employment in economic consulting or forecasting and/or pursue graduate study in economics, law school, or other related fields).

To best prepare you, Frostburg State University's economics program has flexible course plans, experiential opportunities and a variety of focuses to help you optimally run both your work and your personal day-to-day life. The program is flexible enough to allow you to combine these concentrations with an additional major or minor.
