With a dual certification in Elementary and Special Education, you will prepare for certifications in both general education for grades 1-6 and special education for grades 1-8. The program includes methods for co-teaching and multiple in-person classroom experiences that include clinical rounds, apprenticeship, assistantship and internships in a variety of school settings. Additionally, as you make your way through the program, specialized courses are offered to support your successes in the classroom.
With a degree in elementary/special education, you will look forward to a fulfilling career guiding children in learning and discovering the world around them. This program was developed for students with an interest in teaching general education students as well as students with disabilities. The Bachelor of Science in Elementary/Special Education program at Frostburg State is aligned with the 2022 teaching standards and high-leverage practices from CEEDAR and CEC, which will prepare you to be successful once entering the teaching field.
