About the Program
With a bachelor’s degree in computer science, you’ll be able to plan, design, and optimize computer software and hardware systems for commercial and government environments. This versatile major provides you with a foundation in programming languages, software development, complex algorithms, and graphics and visualization.
The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science requires the successful completion of 120 credits:
- 41 credits in general education requirements
- 36 credits for the major (18 of these credits must be completed at UMGC)
- 43 credits in the minor, electives and other degree requirements.
This major includes 14 credits of required business core/related coursework, which may be used to fulfill general education or elective requirements. Of these, 7 credits may be applied toward general education requirements, while the remaining credits will count toward electives.
