About the Program

The major in biotechnology combines laboratory skills and applied coursework with a biotechnology internship experience and upper-level study.
For this program, you are required to have already gained technical and scientific knowledge of biotechnology through coursework and direct experience in the field. Contact an advisor or a success coach to confirm your eligibility.

The bachelor of science in biotechnology requires the successful completion of 120 credits of coursework:
  • 41 credits in general education requirements 
  • 36 credits for the major; 18 of these credits must be earned in upper-level courses
  • 43 credits in the minor, electives and other degree requirements.
This major includes 17 credits of required related coursework that may be used to satisfy the general education requirements or electives.
